THE KING'S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY IN COUNCIL.

Whereas by Treaty, grant, usage, sufferance, and other lawful means, His Majesty The King has jurisdiction within

the dominions of the Republic of China;

Now, therefore, His Majesty, by virtue and in exercise

of the powers in this behalf by the Foreign Jurisdiction

Acts, 1890 and 1913, or otherwise in His Majesty vested,

pleased by and with the advice of His Privy Council,

order, and it is hereby ordered as follows:-

1. This Order may be cited as the China Amendment Order

in Council, 1936.

2.-(1) This Order shall come into force on the 1st day of

January, 1937.

(2) No provision of this Order amending or repealing any

provision of any previous Order shall affect the past opera-

tion of such previous Order or anything done thereunder.

(3) Printed copies of this Order shall forthwith be

affixed and exhibited conspicuously in all public offices

of all His Majesty's consular posts in China.

(4) Proof shall not be required in any proceeding or

matter that the provisions of the preceding paragraph of

this Article have been complied with, nor shall any failure

to comply with the said provisions in any manner affect the

operation of this Order.

3. Subject to the provisions of paragraph (5) of the

following new Article 194, Article 194 of the China Order

in Council, 1925, is hereby repealed and the following new

Article 194 shall be substituted therefor:

194.-(1) No British Company shall be allowed to operate

in China without the consent of the Minister.
